Keep blood sugar levels in check
fasting sugar to be less than 100 and random sugar if found above 200 you should consult with the physician....as mucormycosis typically affects diabetics.
And the steroids used in the treatment of covid raises blood sugar therefore there is a increased risk of mucormycosis infection

Hello sir
Sorry to hear about your concern
Steroids and diabetes are risk factor for mucor
So we need to monitor closely
Next Steps
1. Maintain nasal hygiene and don’t steam unnecessarily now
2. Check for FBG, PPBG & BP regularly
3. Look for any signs of stabbing neuralgic pain in one side of face ; prominent swelling on face and eye
If anything like this develops ; rush to the nearest ENT Surgeon at the earliest
4. Avoid high carbs diet
Please make sure that you maintain hygiene and cleanliness around her
Next Steps
Her blood sugar levels are elevated so there might be some risk but now she is comparitively on a lower dose of steroids
Also she is not a known case of diabetes
Was she given oxygen ? Even that has to be taken in consideration
