Repeated mouth ulcer

I haveing a mouth ulcer which is repeatedly coming again and again..i have counselted local doc they are giveing a oinment which cure at that tym and after some days mouth ulcer is appearing.what should i do to prevent from mouth ulcer. Is this a serious issue?
