For a dedicated animal caretaker who has completed a full 5-dose primary series (2023-2024) and received a booster dose only 3–5 months ago, the immunological protection against Rabies is currently very high. While any scratch from a stray animal requires vigilance, your recent booster provides sufficient antibody levels to categorize this minor scratch as a 'low-risk' event that does not necessitate an immediate repeat vaccination
Next Steps
Immediate Wound Care: , Wash the scratch area thoroughly with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes. This is the most effective way to mechanically remove any potential virus.
Observation Period: Monitor the puppies. If they remain healthy for the next 10 days, it further confirms they were not shedding the virus at the time of the scratch.
No New Shot Required: Based on current WHO and national guidelines for recently boosted individuals, a new vaccine dose is not required for this specific minor scratch.
Tetanus Check: Ensure your Tetanus status is up to date (within the last 5 years), as puppy nails can carry environmental soil bacteria.
Mandatory Consultation: If you notice any redness, swelling, or pus at the scratch site, or if the puppies become ill, a formal clinical consultation is mandatory. We may need to prescribe a topical antibiotic.

Really appreciate your care for street dogs 🙏
With prior full vaccination and recent booster, and only minor puppy scratches risk is negligible. Just clean the wound well.
If needed, I can guide you further feel free to consult.
I advise you to take two booster doses on day 0 and day 3 . Rabies vaccine is taken as a precaution whether its a puppy or not , we should be on the safe side
