Regarding PFT-DLCO
Hello, My mother 67 year old asthmatic patient needs to undergo surgery (Superficial Paratodictomy). To assess her lung condition she underwent DLCO test. The problem is she was not able to do the test. There's no measurement of her capacity as the equipment has some minimum value to record. Now is this common for old aged people with asthma or is this something to worry. And how will we know whether she has asthma or emphasyma. Answers and suggestions will be more than helpful.

For older age groups...impulse oscillometry or forced oscillation technique can be done...this will be a good alternative as she can't perform pft...a CT will add to the diagnosis
