Hi, My mother's current heart rate is 53 She should undergo parathyroid surgery. She had blood pressure which is under control and diabetes which is under control. Is it safe for her to be under general anesthesia for 1 and half hours with 53 heart rate? Pls let me know. It would be a great help. Thank you

Thank you for your question. First of all heart rate is not the only parameter for any patient undergoing surgery under GA. Please do an Echocardiography before proceeding for surgery. Also don't worry about the heart rate unless and until it's less than 40/min. Regards.
