Regarding Criz M syrup for 7 months old
Hi Doctor, Our doctor suggested to take Criz M syrup 2.5 ml daily for 1 month to prevent cold cough etc for my 7th month old son. I am a bit worried if it will have any side effects. Kindly suggest. He had two episodes of cough in the last 3 weeks, and had to take ascoril syrup for 5 days each time.

Hi, we don't generally give such syrups for preventing cough. I suggest you to consult another pediatrician for second opinion as we need to check for the cause of cough. From cold air to lung infection, anything can cause cough. For now, stop this syrup, use a spoon of honey at night.

Hi, I understand your concern. Criz-M syrup is an antihistamine (cetirizine) with montelukast. It is sometimes prescribed in infants who have recurrent cough/cold, allergic tendency, or wheeze-like symptoms. In a 7-month-old, a dose of 2.5 ml once daily is generally considered safe when prescribed by a pediatrician. Possible side effects Mild sleepiness or drowsiness
Next Steps
if not improved kindly contact paediatrician.
