Reg:Billurubin level in newborn Bay
Sir My wife delivered new born baby boy 8days old. After blood test we found the billurubin level is 17.43. Is it very harm? and what are the precautions tobe taken to cure it? Kindly advise for this issues.

Dear do consult some Paediatrician as value is high but it all depends on the day of life the maturity of the child and any sign of some infection

It depends upon various factors Maturity and weight Baby is healthy or sick Age in hours Day of starting jaundice Direct or indirect bilirubin Treatment is by phototherapy and blood exchange. So your baby needs full evaluation by pediatrician. In general (not specific to your baby) this jaundice 17 mg at 8 days in a term healthy baby although high, baby doesn't need any treatment
