Formula milk is sweeter than breast milk, baby might be preferring that . Some changes are OK but since baby is not gaining weight , detailed examination necessary.
Next Steps
Consult
Health Tips
If baby is hungry , it can also cause sleep deprivation. Before giving should consult since baby is less than 6 months .

No it's better to avoid giving syrup to sleep. Ah, I see! A 4-month-old on formula feed who isn’t sleeping well is quite common, but there are gentle strategies to help. Let’s go over some possible reasons and solutions: Common Causes for Poor Sleep at 4 Months Growth Spurts or Sleep Regression: Around 4 months, babies may wake more frequently. Hunger: Formula-fed babies usually sleep longer than breastfed babies, but hunger can still wake them. Overtiredness: Skipping naps or staying awake too long can make it harder to settle. Discomfort: Gas, reflux, or a stuffy nose might be the culprit. Sleep Associations: Rocking, feeding, or holding can become a sleep crutch. Gentle Strategies to Improve Sleep ✅ Create a Calming Bedtime Routine: Short bath, gentle massage, lullabies, and dim lights. ✅ Consistent Sleep Schedule: Aim for bedtime around the same time each night (7–8 PM). ✅ Watch Wake Windows: For a 4-month-old, aim for about 1.5–2 hours of awake time between naps. ✅ Offer Full Feeds: Ensure baby is getting enough during the day to reduce night wakings. ✅ Swaddle or Use a Sleep Sack: If baby is not rolling yet, swaddling can help them feel secure. ✅ Dark, Quiet Room: Reduce noise and keep the room comfortably cool (about 22–24°C). When to Worry Call your pediatrician if: Baby is fussy during feeds, vomiting, or showing signs of allergy or reflux. Poor weight gain or less than 6 wet diapers/day. Baby seems unwell, has a fever, or has a persistent cough.
