REDUCED MOUTH OPENING OR OSMF
I have been chewing tobacco for past few years and now my mouth opening has reduced and jaws have become stiff.Iam unable to eat spicy food and I sweat a lot while having food. I am afraid if these are symptoms of oral cancer.I have been advised that it is osmf by a dentist. Kindly suggest my treatment options and also any tests that should be done.

Hi ,oral submucous fibrosis is not cancer but a premalignant condition which means oral cancer may develop in the future. The chances are around 7-13%. Immediately ,stop chewing tobacco. There are many treatment options ,although none is highly successful like - 1) Eating well balanced diet with seasonal fruits and green leafy veg and Iron supplements. 2) Intralesional injection of steroids and hyaluronidase. 3) Physiotherapy to assist mouth opening. 4) Surgery to remove fibrotic tissues
Next Steps
Immediately start treatment
Health Tips
Stop smoking. Decrease weight. Take well balanced diet as told above.
