Radiation exposure risk
Hello doctor advised me for ct coronary angiography and hrct chest but I am afraid of getting cancer from the radiation, from these scans which are 17 msv and 5 msv respectively. I am 26 years old what are the chances after scans of cancer ??

Hi The dose of radiation from CT scans are lesser side which on a single exposure is not a risk factor for cancer. Repeated exposure to higher doses of radiation is a risk factor My worry is why they have advised you coronary angiogram as you are 26yrs old

The exposure is very minimal So no chance of getting cancer with just 1-2 scans
