My dog received his rabies vaccine from a neighbour when he was 3 months old. He gave my dog 5 doses of the vaccine, but I am not sure if he did it correctly. and I heard that there are specific sites and angle for rabies vaccine injections. I am worried that my dog may not be fully protected against rabies.
My dog is 8 months old now. Should I repeat the 5 doses again after 1 year or will a booster dose work? Please advise me on the best course of action for my dog’s health and safety.

Generally two doses is given after 3 month and followed by booster dise then vaccinate annually.
But there is no logic of five times if dog have no history of bitten by any other dog.
Next Steps

If your neighbor is a veterinary doctor, then nothing to worry about.
If there are any doubts about that, just go for rabies antibody titer test. It will tell us if his vaccination has really produced appropriate immunity in his body.
If the If the test shows correct antibody value, then there is no need to go for any extras vaccination. Just boosters will be enough after a year.
If the test values are low, then we can restart the vaccination with your veterinary doctor.
No need to repeat dose for atleast a year from last vaccination. But why were 5 doses given was this puppy Bitten by another dog?
If the vaccination was done by a veterinarian, site and vaccination method would definitely be right. So there is no need to worry.
Generally 2 shots of vaccine around 3 months of age is the recent guidelines for rabies vaccine in dogs...if they had given 5 shots then it's better to get booster doses every year once unless your pet gets bitten by other dogs.
