Protein deficiency and acsites

Asked for Male, 40 Years

Patient has pancreatic cancer since last 6 months and metastatic to liver also. He is on ayurvedic treatment...Now his albumin level is 2.0 and moderate acsites...Should albumin be infused??? And also drain free fluid...Plz suggest

The peritoneum is a membrane that surrounds the organs inside the abdomen that makes ascitic fluid. This fluid is normal in the body, but cancer can cause the peritoneum to produce too much of this fluid. This is called "malignant ascites" and it is often a sign of advanced cancer.

Next Steps

if you drain fluid it will reaccumulate. periodic draining should be done. not necessary for albumin infusion.
