Pregnancy Planning
He is having sugar since 2021 on getting Covid. Taking 3 tablets a day for diabetes. Is it fine to plan for pregnancy now or do we need to control sugar and cut down tablet to one a day before planning. Hba1c is 6.7 now. Will this have any impact in the child if we are planning now.

Not necessarily.. if your HbA1C is 6.7 then this is good to plan but work to make it below 6. It wont impact ur child until and unless your sugars go beyond desired ranges . During pregnancy you will have to keep a check on your sugar levels . Once you turn 20 weeks ,your doctor will suggest OGTT test .
Next Steps
Keep a track on fasting and pp sugar and HBA1Ccbelow 6
Health Tips
Avoid simple carbs , refined sugars and maintain healthy diet high in protein low on carbs ..

If you’re already diabetic and your HbA1c is 6.7% on oral tablets, it’s important to know that before planning a pregnancy, your HbA1c should ideally be below 6% or at least under 6.5% for the best outcomes. Also, the type of tablets you are taking needs to be reviewed, because during pregnancy, most oral diabetes medications are stopped. Only metformin can sometimes be continued, but the safest and most effective treatment during pregnancy is insulin. So, you will likely need to switch to insulin while planning and throughout your pregnancy. Good sugar control is very important during this time, and that means a combination of insulin, diet, and regular sugar monitoring. With proper care and good control of your diabetes, a healthy pregnancy is definitely possible.
