Posterior fontanelle
Hello docs... my baby is 10 days old and i am not able to locate posterior fontanelle on his head.... as i user to found it on my first borns head and it closed by 3 months... what to do????

Hello there, posterior fontanelle doesn't have more significance as anterior fontanelle. So it's perfectly fine if you don't locate it. But make sure you regularly check head circumference of the baby. Anterior fontanelle should be open, it should not be too large or too small. Do consult online if any more concerns. Check on his activity or any convulsion episodes

It is usually very small. So may not be felt. There is no problem if it's not felt. It does not affect the baby if everything else is normal

Posterior fontanelle may be closed at birth also, so need not worry. If it's open, then it will close by 1-3 months.

Hello Regarding your concern … The posterior fontanelle usually closes by age 1 to 2 months. It may already be closed at birth. Nothing to worry

Posterior fontanelle may get closed immediately after birth

If baby’s head circumference is normal and anterior fontanelle is open then relax,nothing to worry about it.
