Post k wire removal
Hi happy rakshabandhan My surgery of left hand ring finger is done. Proximal phalanx fracture with half missing bone of metacarpal bone vertically. Surgery was done with k wire and cast was for 1 month. After one month k wires were removed. But fingers shows little bit bend towards middle finger. When I positiend palm lateral view . My ringfinger stick towards middle finger from upper second joint. Also no strength and heavy stiffness. I m only able to bend top joint . And first joint attach to palm. But no movement from second joint in finger. I am scared a lot. I think bones are not United . Please help me . Guide me. I have attached two xray one before surgery and 1 month after surgery on the day before k wire removal. Today is third day post wire removal swelling in whole palm included that finger.

Hi, Please be relaxed, you are on the path to recovery. Often it seems wrong but you need to be patient and follow the advice of your surgeon and physiotherapist. Post traumatic surgical rehabilitation of hand is a very slow process it will take 12weeks to 16weeks for you to feel the difference. This too will pass!

Hey there! It would take some time to heal nicely. Please give rest to your palm. Take calcium supplements. There is utmost chance that the callus should form completely. For preventing contracture to develop learn basic exercises to do on a regular basis.
