Pneumonia, faster heartbeat.
My brother is suffering from pnemonia and the mucus is spreading from right lung to the left and the doctors have kept oxygen mask and doing nothing ... What is the treatment required .. Please help .and how many days does he take to recover !!!

If he is bringing out sputum then it should be sent for gram staining and culture, if there is no sputum then subject him to bronchoscopy, he must have been started on antibiotics which can be optimized...uncomplicated pneumonia usually improves in 7 days..if pneumonia are associated with effusion then pleural tap is required and sent for testing.
