Phototherapy treatment side effects
Hi doctor, my lil one was suffered with neonatal jaundice on her 5th day of birth. So doctor advised me to admit her. They kept my daughter under phototherapy light. After her health was normal but as weeks go she became very dark complexion. Me and my husband both are fair complexion. Before phototherapy she was very fairer. But after phototherapy her complexion totally changed to black. Now she is 5 months old. Her face has lighten up but her body does nt lighten. I am totally worried . Wether my daughter will regain her original colour or not. I was not informed about phototherapy complications.

Normally baby changes little bit color because at birth baby's Hb remains high but after 2-3 months it decreases. It's normal and not related to phototherapy.

This is probably not related to phototherapy. Phototherapy dont change skin colour. A newborn colour is fair but with age pigmentation appears.
