I'm a 37 year old woman and have been experiencing a persistent chesty cough for over a month.
The cough feels like it originates from the chest area. It is often forceful and occurs in bouts, sometimes starting mild and increasing in intensity.
At night I sometimes wake up from sleep due to continuous, loud coughing episodes. I need to change my position to get relief. Even my child sleeping beside me wakes up.
In the morning I feel a need to cough immediately after waking up. This happens everyday.
While speaking, I sometimes feel mucus or blockage at the base of the neck, and I need to clear it to continue talking. Some wheezing sound also when breathing out with some force.
Now for the last around a week, left ear and side of the head feel heavy, especially while chewing, but it goes away during the day.
Please advise.
