Next month my braces are coming off & My oral surgeon has advised me to wear Permanent retainer whereas my Orthodontist has advised me to wear Essix retainer. Both are very experienced people with 20+ experience whose advise should I follow? Personally I prefer permanent retainer because my oral surgeon is not charging me for that whereas my orthodontist is charging me rs6000 for Essix retainer but it's not just about money I want to go with right one so please advise

Retainers are fixed or removable and made of wires or plastic. Essix retainers are removable retainers that are made entirely of transparent plastic, which makes them less noticeable than traditional wire retainers. Another benefit is that they encourage good dental hygiene; patients can take out their retainer when they brush and floss, and clean the retainer itself at the same time. Unlike some wire retainers, Essix retainers cover the entire arch of the teeth.
