The pain may be due to TMJ splint. If it is increasing then consult your dentist who has given the splint for a check up

TMJ Pain is chronic. You have to learn to cope with that ... if you search online there will be so much varied things about tmj pain and that’s because the causes or multiple and unclear. Splint therapy has been in debate these days but you need to give it time for any therapy to actually work. Without a clear assessment, it’s difficult to give you advice. I specialise in tmj disorders and the best response and relief is in people who have learnt to accept that this may not go away and can flare up from time to time. Avoid or manage stress if you are in such situations by meditating or such constructive means.
Next Steps
You can use warm water fomentation and give your joint some rest for next 2 weeks with taking only non chewing Soft diet and avoiding too wide mouth opening. Then slowly come back to normal diet. You could also massage muscle on the jaws . Might help.
