An opg can help you with your problems extension , if there is bone recession , or are there any pockets , people suffering from systemic diseases also can have hypertrophic gums and sometimes long term medication usage can also cause it , pre menaupasal period also shows such conditions or yours could be just because of local infections

Can't prescribe medicines without check up & full mouth OPG & blood sugar level should be measured for any procedure regarding gum hypertrophy. & generally we advice full mouth scaling as first step & then gingivectomy as second step depends on severity. That's why clinical examination must for this
