Pain in the chest area
My father-in-law initially had pain in his lower back/waist area, for which we consulted a neurologist. After taking the prescribed medicines, the pain shifted to his knees/legs. Later, the pain again shifted back to his lower back. For the last 3–4 days, he has also been complaining of chest pain, which later spread to the abdominal area around the navel. Last night, he slept with pain around the navel and suddenly woke up with difficulty breathing. At that time, his face and eyes also appeared swollen. Today, he is still having breathing difficulty along with leg pain and abdominal discomfort.

This is a medical emergency and he needs to be taken to a hospital immediately — please do not delay. The combination of chest pain, sudden difficulty breathing at night, and swelling of the face and eyes in a patient with CKD stage III and hypertension is very alarming. This could be acute fluid overload with pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs), a cardiac event, or severe kidney decompensation — all of which require urgent evaluation and treatment in a hospital setting. Do not try to manage this at home. Go to the nearest emergency room right now and inform them of his CKD, hypertension, and current medications.
