During pregnancy bowel movement can be slightly obstructed due to pressure of growing uterus on rectum.  Stomach pain may occur if you are having such problem also. This can usually occur with other symptoms like hard stool,  lack of appetite, heavy sensation in abdomen etc. The pain your wife is experiencing cannot be diagnosed with the information you provided.  Other symptoms and clinical examination helps to identify the problem. Consult the gynaecologist your wife was consulting to know about the cause of stomach pain.
