I'm sorry you are in pain during your periods. Over 80% women experience some discomfort during periods and in 20% it can be unbearable. It is perfectly OK to take prescribed medication to manage the pain so that you can continue to do the things you need to live your everyday life. There is no long term effect on fertility if you do so. Since we know that ovulatory cycles are more painful any treatment that keeps the ovary quiet by inhibiting ovulation will make your periods less painful. E.g the combined pill. Rarely, if nothing else works you have the choice of requesting a Mirena intrauterine system which is very effective at reducing both pain and bleeding. This is reversible and can be removed whenever you wish and your periods will return to how they were.
