As an Orthodontist, we always tell our patients that initial few days (2-5 days), you would have pain in teeth as they start moving. This possible subsides gradually. You need not worry. (Your orthodontist might have applied proper pressure and not more.) Along with pain you are likely to develop your for 3-7 days. This is due to metallic surface of brackets rubbing against your cheeks

Hi... Once the braces are placed, they exert constant force on teeth to move them, that's why you feel pain while chewing. Any mild painkiller (paracetamol) for 2-3 days will help reduce pain. Ask your dentist for wax to be applied on brackets which will cover sharp edges and reduce sores on lips and cheeks from inside. Also mucopain anesthetic gel can be applied on sore areas before having food.
Next Steps
Explain your concern to the treating dentist.
