Initial discomfort with night guard is normal—use it regularly to allow adaptation. Jaw tightness may reduce in a few days. If symptoms persist, get the guard adjusted and evaluate for TMJ/muscle issues. Consider stress management and take an online dental consultation for further guidance.

Hi, first of all so sorry to hear about your loss. Night grinding habit is a response to the stress that you're going through.  Treating the cause is the most important treatment than giving you something that will temporarily help you. I am an Orthodontist who has also specialised in TMJ.  If the night guard that you are wearing is a soft splint, I would suggest you to immediately stop wearing it. Unless you are actively undergoing an Orthodontic treatment for the correction of your deep bite, it's not automatically going to adjust. Kindly, get another detailed diagnosis done for yourself with a specialist not only a general dentist. And seek ways that may help you get through this tough time in your life, so that your body doesn't take the brunt of it.
