Hello Ma'am. Biologics have been used by Rheumatologists for many years. These are target therapies, they target specific inflammatory mediators or chemicals. They are used as injectables, oral medications or infusions. They can have side effects, which your Dr will monitor for you. If taken long term, it is advisable to monitor for cancers ( very small risk). However, the benefits outweigh the side effects. There maybe a possibility that the ankle was also a part of the inflammatory story & will benefit from the treatment. This would be looked into by your Rheumatologist. The irritation of your eyes could be one more manifestation of ankylosing spondylitis. This would need urgent attention. Kindly see your Doctor.
