**Subject:** Severe Left-Sided Neck Pain Worsening Since Last Tuesday (Possible Muscle Spasm/Strain)
I have been experiencing intense pain on the left side of my neck, around the point where my head/neck meets my upper back/shoulder area. It started last Tuesday as mild pain, but over the past few days it has become significantly worse. The pain is especially severe in the mornings when I wake up, and even sitting upright causes a lot of pain. Initially, lying down felt slightly better, but now even that is uncomfortable. I used a neck massager on the area twice after the pain started, and I feel that may have worsened it. I have taken a painkiller, but it is not helping much. The pain is now affecting my daily functioning—I struggle to get out of bed, sitting is difficult, and even basic activities like going to the washroom are very painful. I cannot comfortably sit, stand, or lie down. Could this require physiotherapy, muscle relaxants, or further evaluation? What should I do next?

Since pain is severe and affecting daily activities, early physiotherapy and proper evaluation are important.
What you should do now: • Avoid neck massager and sudden movements
• Use a proper cervical pillow and maintain neutral posture
• Apply hot fermentation 15–20 minutes, 2–3 times daily
• Take medications only if advised by a physician

Your symptoms suggest an acute Cervical Muscle Spasm, which can become severe with wrong posture or overuse (like massager/strain). That’s why pain is increasing and affecting daily activities.
✔ Avoid neck strain, sudden movements & heavy massage
✔ Use hot fomentation 10–15 min, 2–3×/day
✔ Maintain proper neck support while sitting/lying
✔ Gentle movements only (no forceful exercise now)
Next Steps
Since pain is severe and limiting routine, a guided physiotherapy session can help reduce spasm quickly and restore movement safely.

This is an Acute Muscle Spasm due to the use of a neck massager during your acute phase of inflammation, which is why your pain has intensified.
Next Steps
Apply Hot pack for 10 mins every 3 hour to help relax the muscle fiber . Use a small towel roll under your neck while lying down to maintain neutral spine. DO NOT force any stretches and avoid sudden neck movements .
