It sounds like you might be experiencing irritation or an inflammatory reaction in the area where you had dental work done. This can sometimes lead to discomfort, redness, and changes in the appearance of the oral tissues. Here are a few suggestions to help alleviate your symptoms and promote healing: Rinse with Warm Salt Water: Gargling with warm salt water can help soothe irritation and promote healing. Mix half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water, and gently swish the solution in your mouth for about 30 seconds before spitting it out. Avoid Irritants: Try to avoid spicy, acidic, or very hot foods that may further irritate the affected area. Also, be cautious when brushing or flossing near the irritated area to prevent additional trauma. Over-the-Counter Pain Relief: Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help manage discomfort and reduce inflammation. Be sure to follow the recommended dosage instructions. Topical Relief: You can try applying an over-the-counter oral gel or ointment containing benzocaine to the affected area. This can provide temporary relief from pain and discomfort. Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help keep your oral tissues hydrated and promote healing. Avoid Smoking and Alcohol: If you smoke or consume alcohol, it's advisable to avoid them, as they can slow down the healing process and worsen irritation. Soft Diet: Stick to a soft diet that is easy on your oral tissues until the irritation subsides. Avoid crunchy or hard foods that could further irritate the area. Monitor and Follow Up: If the symptoms persist or worsen over the next few days, it's important to reach out to your dentist. They can evaluate the area, provide specific recommendations, and ensure that there are no complications from the dental work. Remember that it's always best to consult your dentist for personalized advice based on your specific situation. If the discomfort, redness, or yellowing continues to concern you, it's a good idea to schedule a follow-up appointment to have the area examined.

How did you get a scratch in the area? Was it while the dentist was working with the drill/ some instrument, is it a burn caused by some dental instrument or was it after the with was finished y some appliance/ dental crowns? By your description it could either be a burn or a deep wound. Yellowness and redness could mean infection of the area as well. Better to visit your dentist again. Else maintain oral hygiene and a pain killer ointment over the area. But if it’s infected you may need antibiotics either locally or systemically.
