Hello. I have reviewed your concerns regarding the painful mouth sore you’ve had for the last three days. Mouth sores can be very distressing due to the high sensitivity of the area. Since you mentioned being in a lot of pain despite medication, localized care may provide better relief. Immediate Comfort Measures Saltwater Rinses: Mix half a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water and rinse your mouth several times a day to help reduce inflammation. Avoid Irritants: Stay away from spicy, acidic (like lemon or tomato), and very salty foods, as these can sting the sore and delay healing. Topical Relief: Over-the-counter anesthetic gels containing benzocaine can provide temporary numbing. Consult a local pharmacist for a suitable option. Soft Diet: Stick to cool, soft foods like yogurt, mashed potatoes, or smoothies to minimize mechanical irritation. When to Consult a Specialist Please book a consultation with a General Physician or Dentist if you experience: The sore lasts longer than two weeks. Unusually large sores or sores that are spreading. Difficulty swallowing or high fever. Intolerable pain that is not managed by simple over-the-counter remedies.
