Mom has diabetes.Advise needed.
My mom is 63 years old, and has diabetes detected about 10 years back. I thought of buying a glucose monitor for her, to conveniently check at home, but doctor advised they are not very accurate in mom's case. Is there anything like, such portable monitors available are not reliable for certain cases? Mom also has not tested the values for past 3 months. As she has cold, she says doc once said, we cant check accurately when we have cold. Is it so. Kindly advice.

Glucometers are reliable but not as accurate as a lab report. We generally don’t recommend glucometer monitoring on a regular basis unless someone is on insulin. Suggest HbA1c test which is 3 month sugar average test on a regular basis
