My daughter who is an year old has mild ptosis. I met a pediatric opthomologist, he said he wants to check her vision and use eye drops. Why is this done and what are the consequences if found positive? Isn't this only cosmetological issue?
PS: my daughter lifts her chin to watch the TV sometimes. Is it something to worry too?

Ptosis occludes vision and there are chances of being amblyopic eye (lazy eye). So it is better to check for vision and refraction. It is best done by putting drops. So it is not only cosmetic problem, it is visual problem also. If he finds any refractive error he will give spectacles. And if he finds lazy eye he will treat accordingly.
