Meibomian gland dysfunction
My kid 11 year old had redness slightly in eye. First the doctor's gave allergy eye drops saying it is allergic conjustivitis. But it's been a month and the redness keeps coming back in the evening. So another doctor stopped allergy drops and suggested meibography. She says there is around 30% dryness as per images. And continuing tear drops and heat compressions. I need to understand why this condition arised. Is it like it occurs suddenly and the gland will atrophy? Or it has been there for long and we dint know? Any information would help

Hi, These days one very common cause of dry eye is excessive screen time- leading to evaporation of tear film. Not atrophy of Gland. Try to Minimize screen time. while in front of screen, every 20 minutes, take a 20 second break and look at a distant object 20 feet away. Stay hydrated,  blink more often. Stay away from dust and heat. Do not sit under the fan or in front of ac. As advised by your dr Eye drop teardrops 4 times a day for 1 month will help for the dryness.
