My grandmother have brain stroke 5 months back and now doctor prescribed medice mdd Xr 50 for her but while she take from 2 days hse feels vomiting and nausea and sleepy whole day what should do the doctor is not reachable please guide anyone

The medication she is using is an Anti depressant - Venlafaxine- Antidepressant and a mood altering drug Many antidepressants can cause this in the first few days: • Nausea • Vomiting • Drowsiness • Weakness • Dizziness Elderly patients are more sensitive due to: • Slower metabolism • Post-stroke brain vulnerability This is very common in the first 3–7 days after starting So if, there is slight drowsiness, no need to worry Usually these effects subside in 3-7days and they become tolerant to these side effects (in 3-7days)
