Many chest x rays
Hello doctor my son is 9 years old. He had first chest xray done on day of birth as he had breathing problem due to cord prolapse. At 1 year he had another chest xay due to cold. At 3 year old he had chest x ray once again. At 5 year old another time he had chest xray. Now he had dental xray today morning. Is there any future health risk to him. I am too much worried about xray  radiation exposure since from birth. Kindly answer.

X-ray exposure involves low doses of ionizing radiation that generally cause no immediate side effects. There is no means to measure the radiation exposure. We only have to see the risk vs benefits of certain investigations. You can only be careful next time before any doctor asks for an xray.

Normal xrays emit very small amount of radiation, but since the final effect is cumulative u have to always weigh the benefit vs risk of missing diagnosis. There is no way to assess the amount of radiation in the body for me to give a definitive answer But you can always take care to expose only required part and wear protective shield for rest of body and minimise number of xrays
