Dr. My dad has been diagnosed by small tumour in his lungs and has been advised for PET CT scan. However his kidneys are weak so we are a bit skeptical about this scan as doctors have told that he might be subjected to dialysis ever after this scan. Please let me know how to go about this situation.

Need to know the renal parameters to suggest the extent of risk. Normally compared to a contrast ct scan, pet scan carries a relatively lesser risk of renal damage. However this has to be correlated to the renal status of your dad.
