My question is related to pulse value for a covid patient 61 year old with no history of heart issue and no BP/diabetes.
Pulse variates between 50-90. Is low pulse ok or need to be worried? He is on oxygen intermittently and saturation is above 95.
Does usage of steroids during covid cause variation in the pulse ? What is the alarming pulse value ?

Generally, while pulse rate reflects heart rate; it’s not necessarily so always. Having said that a pulse rate of 50 if it’s occasional and for few beats it may be technical. Pulse and BP are interconnected. Knowing BP is useful.
Pulse has a normal range. In adult it varies through out the day hovering round 70’s. But it can jump to higher levels with activity and return to a lower level.
Indeed, at nights it can drop down to 50 too!

A clinical review by your physician is useful and I recommend it strongly .
