Leg nail injured
Hi, My son is 16 months old. While playing he suddenly went near door amd someone from other side opened it. As he has small finger its nail is injured and blood came out. He cried a lot.It happened yesterday afternoon. Today in the eveng he is fine wore shoes and went out. In the evening he again crawled and again blood cane out. I am very much wordied about what medicines to use or any cream or something to ease his pain and also heal the nail and finger quickly. Its difficult to stop him, but am worried how painful it will be if he looses his nail. How much time will It take to heal, and how to handle it.

Don't worry I can understand your emotional concern on your kid First it's crush injury where your kid may loose nail completely or may not. Now give syrup Ibugesic plus 3ml thrice daily for 3days Apply Mupirocin ointment 3 times in a day

This looks like a nail bed injury due to door crush trauma. Usually it heals well with time. The nail may become loose or even fall off, but a new nail generally grows back over the next few months. For now: - Clean gently with water - Apply mupirocin/fusidic acid ointment 2-3 times daily - Keep nail short and avoid repeated trauma - Paracetamol can be given if pain is there Please get examined if: - Finger becomes swollen/red - Pus develops - Child is unable to use finger - Persistent bleeding or severe pain occurs Healing usually takes 1-2 weeks for skin and few months for full nail regrowth.
