Late teething
My daughter is 9.5 months old.. she had two pre natal teeth on the lower jaw, which was extracted at 3 months since it was loose.. she  has not got any tooth after that.. really bothers me.. why is her teething delayed.. should I take any tests .? My dentist said she ll have her teeth ,may be delayed.. But i am not sure . She doesn't have even 1 tooth yet . Plz help .

Hey hi.. nothin to worry.. u still have doubt u can get an X-ray but not necessary .. now days I have come a crossed kids getting their 1 tooth at the age of 1.2 years too .. they will have delay replacement of permanent teeth.. so nothing to worry

They say first teeth come at 6 months but there can be a 3-6 month delay. What you can do is massage the gum pads daily during the morning cleaning. The teeth that you removed at 3 months could be extra teeth (natal or neonatal teeth) but sometimes it could be the milk tooth that anamolously erupted early. If she’s gaining weight as she must and didn’t have any major illness she will get her teeth shortly. If she doesn’t get any in another 2 months then you can take a review and sometimes an X-ray may be advised to check if teeth are indeed present in the jaws. We usually avoid X-rays in young babies when we can ... Don’t worry. When I was in Jipmer we used to get many such questions often and eventually the teeth came though a bit late in timetable.
