Lack of desire in our sexual life
I am a 24 years old women and I have a 1.5-year-old baby (delivered by C-section). I am facing a problem in my sexual life. My husband says he does not feel much sensation during intercourse and thinks my vagina feels loose. Because of this, our intercourse is not satisfactory and it is affecting me mentally. I also feel that my vaginal lubrication is less (dryness), which may be causing discomfort. I want to know: 1. Is vaginal looseness possible after C-section? 2. Can this be due to weak pelvic floor muscles or hormonal changes? 3. What can I do to improve tightness and lubrication? 4. Should I do Kegel exercises or take any treatment?

Namastey Your concerns are understandable, and many women experience similar changes after childbirth. First, it is important to clarify that a C-section does not directly cause vaginal looseness, because the baby does not pass through the vaginal canal. However, pregnancy itself can stretch and weaken the pelvic support structures due to the weight of the uterus and hormonal changes. This may lead to a feeling of reduced tightness or altered sensation. Additionally, reduced lubrication is quite common after delivery, especially due to hormonal fluctuations (particularly lower estrogen levels), breastfeeding, stress, and fatigue. Weakness of the pelvic floor muscles (Pelvic floor muscles) can also contribute to decreased sensation during intercourse for both partners.
Next Steps
At this stage, the most effective and safe approach is to focus on strengthening and awareness of your pelvic muscles. Regular practice of Kegel exercises can significantly improve muscle tone, enhance tightness, and increase sexual satisfaction over time. Along with this, ensure adequate foreplay during intimacy, as it naturally improves lubrication and comfort. Open communication with your partner is also essential to reduce psychological stress and improve mutual satisfaction. If the concern persists or affects your confidence, it would be beneficial to seek personalized guidance. Health Tips
Maintain good hydration and a balanced lifestyle, as these directly influence natural lubrication. Practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or yoga can help reduce stress-related dryness. Avoid rushing into intercourse; instead, focus on gradual arousal to support natural lubrication. Pelvic floor strengthening should be done consistently (daily) for noticeable improvement over a few weeks to months. Also, maintaining overall physical fitness and posture can indirectly support pelvic health. With the right approach and consistency, these concerns are usually reversible and manageable. Thank you
