KLEBSIELLA PNEUMONIAE treatment
ESBL KLEBSIELLA PNEUMONIAE SSP PNEUMONIAE sputum report says to my father (67yrs) but he have no symptoms like fever or cough ? Do i still need to take antibiotics. He was hospitalised for past one month where he had got this bacteria and they gave merepenem iv injection for 10 days after taking sputum still we could see the bacteria .? Do i need to worry please advice .. thanks in advance

It could be a colonizer as well. Which may take 3 weeks to get fully eradicate. So suggest to continue antibiotics for another 1 week

Esbl is a resistant organism so has to be treated with appropriate antibiotics depending on the sensitivity reports. Need a detailed history of the patient and radiological imaging to give further advise.
