Is metformin safe in early pregnancy
Hi doc! I am 7 weeks pregnant with a previous history of pcod and prediabetic (h1abc) being 5.8. I am suggested to continue metformin for next month. I am concerned if this is safe for foetal diabetic

Metformin is being given to women with gestational diabetes mellitus, and impaired glucose tolerance. The risks of a diabetic without treatment is more and has adverse effects on foetal development.

Hba1c less than 6.5 is normal Safe can be continued Maintain fasting sugar less than 95 Post lunch less than 140 Diet n exercise will play an important role
