For insulin resistance with a history of thyroid disease and arthritis, Wegovy (semaglutide) is generally the better and safer option for long-term use compared to Mounjaro. It has more long-term safety data, fewer gastrointestinal side effects, and is not known to worsen common thyroid conditions or arthritis. Mounjaro is stronger but has more side effects and less long-term data, so it is usually considered only if Wegovy is not tolerated or ineffective.
Next Steps
• Start Wegovy at the lowest dose as prescribed • Increase dose gradually • Continue regular follow-up with your endocrinologist
Health Tips
• Avoid both medications if there is a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN-2 • Expect mild nausea initially, which usually improves with time

Both medicines are having similar side effects more or less. It is important to understand why do you want to start these medicines? It is not as simple with anti obesity medicines as like for diabetes mellitus or thyroid
