Inquiring about fasting

Asked for Male, 20 Years

I am starting a fast for spiritual reasons, just was hoping to get some advice and maybe warnings as what to do and what to avoid doing? I have fasted before but I wanted to check in and ask here because I am planning a 40 day water fast which I have never gotten close to.
