Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician. I understand your concern — indigestion after consuming spicy and oily foods is common, especially when one is on medication. Gond Katira (also called tragacanth gum) is traditionally used for soothing the stomach and cooling the body, but its effects can vary depending on your current digestive condition and medications. ✅ Advices • Avoid spicy, oily, and heavy masala foods, as they can trigger indigestion. • Drink plenty of water and have small, frequent meals to reduce stomach irritation. • Gond Katira can be taken in moderate amounts as a cooling drink, but ensure it is prepared with water and not with milk or added sugar that may worsen your digestion. What to Monitor • Notice any worsening of bloating, heartburn, or abdominal discomfort after taking Gond Katira. • Mild warning signs include persistent nausea, vomiting, or increase in stomach pain. Management You may try a small quantity of Gond Katira in water to see if it helps soothe your stomach. Please avoid self-medicating beyond this, as your ongoing medication may interact with certain herbal preparations. When to Consult a Doctor Immediately • Severe or persistent abdominal pain • Vomiting blood or black stools • Sudden worsening of indigestion or bloating Every patient’s situation is unique. For accurate guidance and safe use of Gond Katira with your current medications, it is important to discuss your medical history and symptoms in detail. 👉 You can reach out to me directly for this case, and also connect with me in future for any medical consultation. I am available on Practo or on WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven for a one-on-one consultation, where you’ll receive: A personalized treatment plan Safe medicine adjustments if required Quick follow-ups to track your recovery Take care, wishing you good health. Best regards, Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician

You can take it as it is good for gut health but it is not the treatment for indigestion.  We need to treat the root cause of indigestion which in your case seems to be a GERD/ulcer/esophagitis. You can consult me on practo to get a detailed discussion on this.

Hi    Since indigestion is present, better to avoid such foods. Sometimes it can cause adverse effects rather than benefits.

Gond Katira is generally safe in small amounts but won’t specifically treat indigestion. If you get indigestion from oily or spicy food, it’s best to avoid those triggers and continue your prescribed medication. You can take Gond Katira occasionally for its cooling effect, but don’t rely on it as a remedy. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
