Incisional hernia
Hi Doctor, My sister has incisional hernia issue. She had a laparoscopic surgery 7 years before and now it seems it is again repeated. The latest report shows incisional hernia with defect size 2 cm , and with bowel herniating. She is planning to undergo surgery again need suggestions if open surgery is best or laparoscopic in future, so that recurrence won't happen. Request you to please provide the suggestion. And what are precautions to be taken in the future. She complaints about discomfort in stomach , pain and increased lower abdominal region. If we go for open surgery , will the problem won't recur in future. The first surgery she had was laparoscopic and at that time the defect size was around 7 cm... please suggest

Laparoscopic surgery or Open surgery can be assessed after examining the patient. There are lot of factors accounting to success of surgery. Get an appointment with a surgeon, let him evaluate her and discuss with him in person.
