I have anemia and I can’t eat
Hey I have iron deficiency and I have braces on my teeth that get tightened every while .. the problem is that I cannot chew when I tight my braces and mostly eating soft food or drinking smoothies so I can’t eat the iron rich food like meat and salads ..etc cause it does require a lot of chewing .. and also there’s that food that bind with the iron and reduced absorption. I feel so unhealthy I’m afraid I’ll have more serious deficiency if I keep on like that . What should I do, eat and avoid?

I can understand your dilemma!! It would have helped if you had informed about the hemoglobin level and whether you are taking iron supplements. I am sure, even with braces, you can easily swallow iron tablets or take iron syrup. Have you tried that? Assuming that you are strictly asking question regarding how to increase iron in your diet, here is what I can help you with. Since you are comforatble with smoothies, have watermelon smoothies! You can add jaggery and date palms to your diet. Do you like hummus? Its also rich in iron and easy to make and eat. You are writing from Qatar, so you have to work with ingredients available there. You can make a soup out of spinach and chana dal (bengal gram dal). Soak raisins overnight and they become soft and can be consumed easily!

Go for syrups then. Iron fortified health supplements will help you in this.
