15 days ago I was diagnosed with diabetes and there was 12 kg weight loss in last one month. I get only 4 hours to sleep due to my office and it made my condition worse. However, after I was diagnosed, I took rest and avoided office. Earlier test results were 380 with fasting and 597 with meal which was done on 19th of July 2018. Now I again gone for a test on 31st and result for post lunch was 166. How should I take care of it now?

Hello, Diabetes can cause significant weight loss when undiagnosed which happened in your case. Your sugar levels were also very high at the time. Your post lunch blood sugar seems to have improved very much with changes in your lifestyle . You should start low carbohydrate/ low fat diet which would involve avoiding high sugary foods, sweets, deep fried foods , eat less quantity of white rice and potatoes. Exercise regularly, avoid stress, keep checking your sugars regularly. Diabetes is a chronic condition and you have to continue with diet and exercise through out your life which will help in maintaining your sugar levels in good range. You may need medications depending on sugar levels if they are not controlled with lifestyle measures alone.
