Hello, I am Dr. Charles Mano Sylus, consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon in Fortis Vadapalani Hospital, Chennai. I will be able to help your uncle. As per his history, his Haemoglobin(Hb) is 8.8 which is significantly low for his age. So if the Hb is low, it means he is bleeding somewhere inside, which could be either stomach, small intestine or large intestine or anal region. As you said he passed blood in motion, it rules out the stomach and small intestine for now. So bleed in motion is either in the large intestine or rectum or anal canal.      So for this he needs to undergo a physical examination by a general surgeon to rule out piles, fissure, fistula or diverticulitis or any ulcers or any malignant growth from which he could be bleeding. Based on this, the surgical management or medical management option will be provided
Next Steps
1) Consult General Surgeon to do per rectal and physical examination 2) CECT abdomen or Colonoscopy 3) Surgical or medical management based on findings. 4) Iron supplements till then and if he is on any cardiac medicines for heart, there will be a  blood thinners which needs to be stopped for a few days after discussing with cardiologists as this also will increase bleed
Health Tips
hope I was helpful. And if you need a second consult, you can always contact me with the reports and I will be able to help you.
