I am a 22-year-old male with hair thinning for the past 4 years. My hairline is mostly normal, but overall density has reduced significantly, and my scalp is now visible even in dry hair.
I have persistent dandruff with white/yellow flakes and constant itching. I have been using ketoconazole shampoo twice a week, but flakes and itching still remain 24/7 with no major improvement.
The itching becomes worse after eating spicy food or when exposed to heat/sunlight. My scalp often feels dry.
There is no strong family history of baldness.
I want to know the possible cause (dandruff, fungal infection, seborrheic dermatitis, or androgenetic alopecia) and the correct treatment to control itching and improve hair density. Also, should I start minoxidil or any other medication?
